Dr. T. A. V. Murthy was a member of high-powered committees of the UGC & AICTE under MHRD (GOI) for the upgrading of all 17 RECs into NITs in 2002 and visited all of them.
He was also a member of the NAAC committee that accredited the University of Kashmir (Srinagar) and the University of Kerala (Thiruvananthapuram).
He also served as an elected President of the Society for Information Science (SIS) India, a member of the International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA)'s Asia and Oceania Section and the Art Libraries Section, member secretary of Ahmedabad Library Network (ADINET), expert member of the National Knowledge Commission. He was a member of several national and international committees by UGC, DST, AICTE, CSIR, and UPSC, and has represented India at global forums such as IFLA (UNESCO), SAARC, AGRIS (FAO), and UNDP. He has traveled extensively across India and internationally, visiting more than 25 countries in connection with professional engagements and academic collaborations.
Dr. Murthy has served as a member of the Academic Council of five universities and has been invited to over 140 universities and professional institutions across India and abroad for lectures, talks, felicitations, receptions, and academic engagements. His presentations have
covered a diverse array of topics including library science, computer centers, academic staff colleges, archives, and professional associations. The thematic focus of his lectures spans Indian cultural heritage, Indian temple architecture, digitization of Indian manuscripts,
multimedia documentation of the Gita Govinda, library networks, e-journals and e-publishing, UGC-INFONET and e-journal consortia, e-education, Jain cosmology, and computer-based information systems (CBIS) for libraries. His contributions have been formally recognized in national forums and academic gatherings, including prestigious events in the presence of the Hon'ble President of India.
